Hi! I’m Rita Clare

Since childhood, my interests have oscillated between art, design, and the life sciences. I have a deep gratitude to have found scientific illustration – a career that feeds both my creativity and insatiable curiosity for the natural world. I founded Scivetica in 2021, during my M.Sc. in Biochemistry, and since then I’ve helped researchers all over the world communicate their work. I strive to create work that is engaging, vibrant, and thorough in both technical accuracy and artistic execution.

I currently live in Portland, Maine with my partner and deaf dog. In the warmer months I spend my free time exploring the beautiful forests, beaches, and marshes of Maine, while birding or foraging. In the winter I like to cozy up with a sci-fi book, tabletop game, or video game. I’m passionate about environmental stewardship and animal welfare.
